Something I’ve been waffling about for a months is whether or not to open up Facebook to “every known and unknown soul”, or to keep it one of the only social networking sites that I restrict access and keep it only for friends, colleagues, and family.
Would opening up Facebook to anyone really benefit me in the long run? I’m not sure. Would keeping it locked up to only those I know well, either virtually or not, hinder me in the long run? I’m not sure either.
So what do YOU do? And I’m generally directing this to industry people, to people who have a public profile, to writers, editors, agents, etc.
Right now I’m leaning toward opening it up and throwing it to the wolves–but I’m not yet convinced.

I don’t, mainly because I do have family connected there and whilst it’s part of my job to make myself online-available for the purposes of marketing my work, my family didn’t sign up for that so really…people don’t need to see their online presence. But that’s just my take on it.
