Halloween on a Saturday–how perfect.

It was a very busy Saturday in the Molata household. The girls had a Halloween party at their dance studio in the afternoon, so Erika busily got them ready into their costumes. It was nice, as we were able to drop them off and have 2 hours to ourselves–which involved a rather tasty lunch. After the party we picked them up and headed home where we ran around like decapitated zombies getting things ready for the evening festivities. Erika’s parents came over and we had dinner, and then once again got the kids ready for trick or treating fun.

And wow, did they have a good time. They got SO MUCH CANDY. Mountains. Really, with 3 kids going out, the piles of sugar add up shockingly fast.

Madeleine and Claire both went as fairies, and Charlotte went as Alice.

Madeleine, Claire, being cute Charlotte, or should I say Alice?

After we got the kids to bed, Erika and I started working on our own costumes as we had an “adults-only” Fangbangers party to go to, hosted by Erika’s cousin Marcy and her husband George. And what fun–er, chaos–we had!

I was originally aiming for Bon Jovi circa 1986, but ended up looking like Vince Neil circa 1987. Which was fine by me. It was fun being an out-of-control big-hair rocker. Erika went as an 80s new wave girl, complete with bangles and big hair and crazy-bright neon clothes. She looked awesome!

Erika, me, rockin' like a hurricane

We made it to the party on time and proceeded to get somewhat (okay, maybe “quite”) inebriated. Marcy and George put on an awesome event, including a bottles of Type A Neg (fruit punch Gatorade), which I quickly spiked with vodka. Why not replenish your electolytes while drinking? Exactly. We ended up staying overnight (planned) as we didn’t go to bed (er, pass out) until 3:30AM.

I haven’t had this much fun on Halloween in a long time. Can’t wait for next year!

What is with me posting about events days after they happen?

Anyways, I had a wonderful, fabulous, fantastic weekend. Even though I was not at World Fantasty this year (bitter=me), my weekend sure made up for it. First off was Halloween on Friday, and the twins finally got to really experience the event including pumpkin carving, costumes, and trick-or-treating.

Charlotte went out as a “good” witch (she always has to stress that she is indeed “good”), and Claire and Madeleine went out as cute, fuzzy teddy bears. And boy did they have FUN! They received so much candy that I am actually trying to avoid the mountain of it all. It’s seriously crazy.

Saturday was my birthday, and to be honest, this had to be one of the best birthdays ever. I think a lot of it had to do with it falling on the weekend, where I was able enjoy time with my family, play with the kids, and actually sit back and put my feet up and play some Xbox. For dinner we all went out to a local Chinese food restaurant for buffet! It was delicious and added about 2 inches to my waistline.

Sunday was out for swimming lessons with the twins first thing in the morning, and then more lounging until later in the afternoon when we all packed up and headed (with my brother and his girlfriend) over to Erika’s parents. There was much fun to be had, including lots of beer and wine, a very tasty dinner of sweet  & sour pork, spätzle (German egg noodles), blaukraut (German braised red cabbage), and coleslaw. Erika’s aunt and uncle brought over homemade date squares (yum!) and fresh-baked pumpkin pie. I tend to ask for pumpkin pie instead of birthday cake–me loves it I do.

After a wonderful dinner my brother came back so we could watch the Miami Dolphins game I had PVR’d. And they won, beating Denver 26-17. What a way to cap off a great weekend.
