After a great week of contest buzz (thanks for all the RTs on Twitter and general support), we ended up with 36 entries–23 of which received 4 entries for being Google Friend Connected to this website!

I took all entries, assigned numbers to them, and used random.org to randomly (obviously, duh) select 3 numbers…

And, without further ado, the WINNERS of THE GASLIGHT DOGS contest are:

Alexandra Shostak

Courtney Barr

Carolina Valdez Miller

Congrats to you!

Please email me with your snail mail address and who you would like Karin to personalize your copy of the book to. I will get them out in the mail as soon as I can grab sushi with Karin–which should be soon!

Thanks for playing and stay tuned for more contest craziness.

So my friend and brilliant writer Karin Lowachee‘s newest book hit store shelves recently, THE GASLIGHT DOGS.

And I got to thinking, how can I street team this book for her?–and then I thought:

CONTEST!

This book is a seriously kick-ass. Check out this description:

At the edge of the known world, an ancient nomadic tribe faces a new enemy-an Empire fueled by technology and war.

A young spiritwalker of the Aniw and a captain in the Ciracusan army find themselves unexpectedly thrown together. The Aniw girl, taken prisoner from her people, must teach the reluctant soldier a forbidden talent – one that may turn the tide of the war and will surely forever brand him an outcast.

From the rippling curtains of light in an Arctic sky, to the gaslit cobbled streets of the city, war is coming to the frozen north. Two people have a choice that will decide the fates of nations – and may cast them into a darkness that threatens to bring destruction to both their peoples.

I mean, how can you NOT want to read this?

So, I have decided to give away not one, not two, but THREE COPIES of THE GASLIGHT DOGS. And the cool thing here is, Karin has graciously offered to sign and personalize each copy for each lucky winner.

Now, you must be wondering, how do I enter?

Simple.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment below.

Leaving a comment will give you +1 entries.

How do I get more entries though?

Easy. Sign into my site via Google Friend Connect for +3 additional entries–but you still have to comment!

Anyone who was already a member of Derek Molata Online prior to the contest start date will receive 1+3 entries when you leave a comment.

And that’s all there is to it.

The contest will run from Monday, April 12th until Monday April 19th at 11:59pm EST. Once the contest closes I will tally up all entries, add them to a random number generator, and randomly select the winners.

Good luck!

Wow. Time has been flying by at a crazy pace. It’s been over a week since my last post, which just seems wrong. Mind you, I’ve been actively tweeting over on my Twitter account (derekmolata), where everything has been quick thoughts and whatnot, but nothing worthy of a blog entry. I’ve also been trying to keep up on my Facebook account when I can, but that can be a lesson in futility.

Things have settled down since I acquired an agent a few weeks ago. Which is good. It is allowing me time to get some other things down around the house and spend some time with my family and get caught up on the craziness of the day job. But I have some synopses to finish for books 2 and 3 of the Hinges series, and a synopsis to write for the YA project as well. Time to get moving on wrapping those up before my revision notes come back from my agent.

I’ve also been able to hang out over the past week or some with some of my close friends. Last weekend I had my brilliant illustrator and childhood friend, David Sones, and his wife come over for dinner and drinks and conversation. It was a great time indeed, and even though  his wife is expecting, the night went late which was nice since we don’t have a chance to get together as much as we’d like to.

Then on Thursday night I went out for sushi with the awesome Karin Lowachee and we talked shop, from books and movies and writing and agents to whatever else tickled our fancy. It was mucho fun, and luckily, our bi-monthly get-togethers will be accelerated as I’ll get to see her again on May 12 for the Chuck Palahniuk reading and signing in Toronto.

So yeah, all in all, things have been very busy, but in a “good busy” way. This weekend is going to be primarily spent working around the house and getting ready to plant trees, as we’re ordering about 50 trees in the next few weeks to plant in the backyard. Can’t wait for that, but there is a lot of prep involved.

Now I’m off to take Charlotte to dance class. Have a good weekend.
