Yup, I’m sure that this is everywhere right now, but I found it pretty amusing so I’m posting Neil Gaiman On The Colbert Report, March 16, 2009 for those that missed it.
Posts Tagged “neil gaiman”The weekend: Friday night was spent watching Coraline in digital. And it was awesome. Kudos to Henry Selick and his talented team at LAIKA. The level of detail in this stop-motion production was truly breathtaking. And Henry Selick did a superb job of adapting and tweaking Neil Gaiman’s source material. I can’t wait for Coraline to come out on DVD so I can watch, watch, and re-watch a film that will surely become a modern day classic similar to The Nightmare Before Christmas. Saturday was spent running around on errands, making homemade lasagna, and cleaning the house. Later that night we had friends come over for a visit and dinner. Wow, was there a lot of food. I can’t believe how fast our friends’ (and our own) kids are growing up. Liz and Jay have a 14-month-old boy who I thought was born a few months ago. Crazy, that thing called time. Which brings us to Sunday. First we had my Dad come over for a visit and breakfast, and then when he left, we got ready to head to a birthday party–a 1st birthday no less. And again, I thought Julie and Brent’s boy was born month’s ago, but nope, he’s turning 1 and running around their home like a whirling dervish. Good times were had by all, with lots of food, conversation, and of course, a grand assortment of alcoholic beverages. Yum! After getting home and putting the kiddies to bed, I finished reading a chapter of a friend’s WIP in order to get ready for our crit group meeting later that night. The entire weekend was a blur. I’m sitting here at the day job wondering where it went. But spirits are high (today anyway), and I’m eager to dive back into the WIP, if only to distract me from other projects, like FEVER and its sequels. So I came across this fantastic trailer for Dead Snow this week and tweeted about it, but for those not on my Facebook or Twitter streams, I’m going to post about it here. It’s a Sundance 2009 selection that is generating some buzz–chainsaw buzz that is (sorry, couldn’t resist). Dead Snow is a Norwegian Nazi zombie campy horror comedy that looks fantastic. If you’re into zombies–and really, who isn’t?–, then check out this trailer. It speaks for itself quite well. Next up on the trailer list for a Saturday morning is Coraline. It’s no secret that I am stoked about this movie. The sad thing is, is that I’m going to be out of the country travelling from February 6th – 15th, so I’m not going to get a chance to see it until I get back. This is a new trailer, and one that Neil Gaiman says is one of the first he’s actually liked. I have to agree. The others were decent, but this one is great and really delivers on the tone and themes of the novel. And of course Watchmen is on its way, but that one deserves an upcoming post all to itself. Have a great weekend. A lot of you may already know that I am a big fan of Neil Gaiman’s Coraline, as well as Henry Selick’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, so when I’d heard Henry Selick would be adapting Coraline for the big screen I was overjoyed. I’ve been following along on its development when I can, and today a bunch of Coraline goodies have come out. First off is the trailer. I was concerend that it was not going to be as dark as the novel after seeing the first 40 seconds or so, but my fears were quickly alleviated as the trailer chugs along. Check it out: Also, beyond the wonderful trailer, Coraline.com has been pretty quiet as of late. Now, thanks to Drawn!, a bunch of passwords have been released allowing us to view all sorts of goodies including a vignette on the various characters in the film. Passwords to enter on the Coraline.com site include: buttoneyes Coraline is scehduled for a release of February 6, 2009. |
